The
Anoraks Home Page
(need we say more).
At long last, the Anorak's Home Page is being completely re-written to take
advantage of emerging web technologies and to make use of the huge amount
of knowledge that now exists about free radio of all sorts on the web.
This site will be built with the assistance of the enthusiasts it is designed
to serve
and will have dynamic content.
A site that
is updated every month is ‘The Pirate Hall Of Fame’.
This site has the most comprehensive list of radio stars, photos and
offshore radio recordings.
The site is run by a friend of this web site (Jon Myer) and has been set
up to honour the stars, the broadcaster’s from the sixties off-shore radio
stations. Worth checking out is the very comprehensive DJ DIRECTORY.
Britain's first offshore
radio station, Radio Caroline, began broadcasting at Easter 1964 from a
ship anchored just outside UK territorial waters. She was followed by a
host of other radio stations based on boats and marine structures dotted
around the coast.
These “pirates” rapidly won an enormous and enthusiastic audience.
There are other web-sites which tell the stories of the various offshore
stations but The Pirate Radio Hall Of Fame has been set up to honour the
stars, the broadcasters, from that golden era of music radio.
This site is a tribute to the people who endured a daily battle with the
elements to provide a soundtrack to the swinging sixties.
The Web-Master (Jon) is always looking for audio clips and photographs to keep adding with its aim of achieving a recording & photograph of every offshore radio personality from the 60’s. If you can help please email them at Hofame@offshoreradio.co.uk

Welcome to Live Radio on the Internet, into it's 8th year!
On this site, you will find links to thousands of radio stations worldwide,
all of which, with the correct (free!) software, you will be able to hear
via your computer - GREAT if you're living away
from home and want to listen to news from your country, or even your hometown
radio station!
With more
websites worldwide linking to it than to the BBC, Live Radio on the Internet,
which has been online since 1997, is the UK's most visited live radio site,
and also the largest directory
available of working links to radio stations broadcasting live on the Internet.
It differs from other sites of this type, as it concentrates on live audio,
and instead of simply adding station after station in an attempt to have
the largest number, Live Radio on the Internet is actually maintained,
and as well as adding links (which are not added unless they work!), those
which no l
onger work are removed (within 4 weeks so as to allow the station(s) time
to restore their audio). Many other sites of this type come to this site
for their links, and this site which is used by the stations themselves,
including the BBC World Service and the BBC Monitoring Service.
